The VIJ curriculum is divided into two key phases, each designed to guide individuals toward lasting recovery and a fulfilling life.
Phase I focuses on education, equipping men with a deep understanding of the disease of addiction and the 12-step method of recovery. This foundational knowledge is designed to be an integral part of their recovery plan, both during their time at VIJ and as they transition back into everyday life.
Phase II builds on this foundation, providing a supportive environment where individuals can continue to practice and strengthen their recovery habits while living in a sober house. During this phase, participants enter the workforce, gaining valuable stability and experience. They are encouraged to save money, enabling them to secure housing and transportation, which are essential for maintaining a healthy, independent, and sober lifestyle after completing the program.
Together, these phases empower individuals with the tools, structure, and confidence they need to achieve long-term success in their recovery journey.

Staying Sober explains addictive disease, Post-Acute Withdrawal (PAW), recovery and partial recovery, mistaken beliefs about recovery and relapse, the relapse process, relapse prevention therapy, and the role of family involvement and relapse prevention …”
“We use The Twelve Steps–A Spiritual Journey as a vehicle to move our people down the road to further discipleship and fellowship. When used in the group experience, it promotes unity and molds people together into the family of God”. —Ron & Karen Martin, Founders & Directors, Lion tamers Anonymous”
